    Who We’re Looking For: 

    Are you an energetic, innovative people-person who is well versed (3+ years) in human resources, especially with building relationships, corporate recruiting, onboarding, retention, and change management? If so, do your best work with Acme Tools as an HR Generalist.

    You’ll join our growing HR team of 6 and will be responsible for a variety of aspects of human resources, including leading corporate talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, new hire and current employee job development, providing compassionate and empathetic support of employees needing a leave of absence, and assisting the HR team in a multitude of areas, including payroll, benefits, and retention. You might be perfect for this role if you are persistent and have no problems persevering in the face of challenges. You also have a deep understanding of building relationships with leaders throughout the company to become a “go-to” resource when it comes to finding and fostering the perfect new team member. You have a deep sense of compassion and understanding for discretion and communication around managing leaves of absence. You are constantly learning, a natural problem-solver, have a deep understanding of what motivates people, and never balk at taking on new challenges!

    What You’ll Take Ownership Of:

    • Leading and improving human resources programs, including: corporate talent acquisition, as well as store-level talent acquisition assistance when needed, succession planning, compensation analysis, developing and implementing onboarding programs, internship and college program development, as well as assisting with employment processing, payroll processing, health and welfare benefits, employee retention, and reporting compliance
    • Lending an empathetic ear and caring heart while exercising discretion and judgment while managing each request for a leave of absence throughout each stage of the leave process, including for FMLA, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Military, and Personal Leaves of Absence
    • Maintaining, innovating, and analyzing the Acme Tools employment brand, including: writing captivating job descriptions, creating marketing campaigns both online through social media and in-store to attract candidates, adopting alternative strategies to recruit passive candidates, and creating new and fun ways to improve the onboarding process for candidates
    • Building relationships with company leaders to strategize recruitment & retention, as well as HR compliance best practices; market opportunities, proactively pre-screen candidates, set up interviews and conducting periodic interviews with hiring managers, analyzing competitive compensation packages, fostering new team members into the company culture, and strategizing company procedures to develop and retain employees
    • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information
    • Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices, monitoring job offers and compensation practices, emphasizing benefits and perks
    • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
    • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
    • Maintaining knowledge of current trends relevant to human resources to advance existing skills 
    • Be the primary backup for payroll processing and benefits, including; bi-weekly and semi-monthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, tracking PTO, hourly employee validations, and benefit changes
    • Ensuring that Acme Tools is in compliance with federal and state laws
    • Rolling with the punches with whatever other human resources task comes your way

     

    Need-To-Haves: 

    • Three (3) years or more of progressively responsible related experience in a human resources department of a medium or large organization required, or relevant equivalency 
    • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of human resources, including: leave administration, employee relations, retention, benefits, payroll, safety, recruiting, training, and compensation management
    • Extensive process improvement and strategy experience in an HR setting
    • Strong technology and communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment, work on a team or independently, ability to manage relationships with Directors and Senior Management
    • Experience building and maintaining a consistent employee-related policies and procedures
    • Self-driven to achieve goals; high energy level is essential, as well as a strong, dedicated work ethic
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to be a working member of the HR team
    • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record 

     

    Love-To-Haves:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
    • 5+ years of effective Human Resources experience
    • Bonus points for tool and equipment or retail industry knowledge
    • Knowledge of ADP or other HRIS systems is a plus
    • Marketing and social media experience

     

    Physical Requirement:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. periodically
