Expo to provide youth hands-on introduction to regional careers
Career opportunities in the Northern Valley will be showcased at an expo Oct. 24. The planning committee, which includes schools, economic development organizations and workforce agencies in Northeast North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota, is currently seeking company sponsors and exhibitors interested in showcasing regional career opportunities to more than 1,500 high school sophomores beginning to plan for their futures.
Companies exhibiting at the Northern Valley Career Expo are asked to have interactive exhibits designed to introduce students to regional workforce demands for skilled, technical and professional careers, and related post-secondary training and education programs that can help them design a career path. For more information or to become a sponsor visit www.conferences.und.edu/nvcareerexpo.
For over two years key regional workforce partners have been meeting to develop a more robust response to improve the efficiency and quality of workforce services delivered to workers and employers.
We are moving towards a commitment to align regions resources for a sustained collaboration that will produce results. Part of this strategy has centered around our future workforce.
The planning committee invites area employers to participate in this event. Details, including sponsorship and registration information is available on the link above. We are planning breakout sessions with industry professionals so students can interact with those working in their field of interest. In addition the entire Alerus Center arena floor will be set up with booths where students can visit with our area’s leading employers and educational/training providers. We hope to make this an annual event. It is not a job fair, but a career fair………For our future workforce to learn, explore, grow and interact with area employers.
